Sunday afternoon I took a stroll through the Art Institute to decompress after speaking at the service that morning. One line on a description card caught my eye, next to the unique Fumage painting by Wolfgang Paalen: "possible does not have to be justified by the known." It felt like a little wink from the Universe as a follow-up on that morning's lesson.
We sometimes get so caught up in reality that we forget to see what is possible. Imagination is the tool that allows us to break through the limitations of appearance and conceive of a new future.
If that feels a step too far, and you can't quite see a greater, bolder, more beautiful vision for yourself, you can rely on another tool: faith. All we have to do is believe in a God who is capable of holding that grander vision for us. Give yourself permission to step beyond the known and into the realm of possibilities.
