I'm coming to believe one of the best way to transform tumult, tragedy and discord in the world begins much closer to home—through the bonds we build with those in closest proximity.

Last night, our SoulFlix discussion group watched the short film Validation (link below). Its premise is simple: Offer words of kindness, appreciation, and praise, then watch what happens—not only in those who hear the words, but in yourself. When we train our eyes to see the good in another, we begin seeing the whole world through the same lens.

To close the evening, we practiced an exercise borrowed from the Youth of Unity rallies called a “car wash.” Facing one another, we formed two lines creating a pathway. Each person took a turn slowly walking the corridor while the rest of us whispered heartfelt words of affirmation, gratitude, and validation.

I know, sounds awkward. It is, a little.

At first. But once self-consciousness fades, something remarkable happens.

Some words land so deeply that tears well up —not because they're new, but because they are a truth the soul has always known. And for the one whispering, there is great joy in seeing another person as the Divine sees them: whole, radiant, and worthy. In helping reveal another's light, we ourselves become brighter.

If enough of us committed to a simple practice of validating other in our everyday lives—imagine how much of the world’s turbulence could be softened.

Peace rarely begins on a global stage. More often, it begins with one person helping another remember the goodness that already dwells within them.
