The Sunday Experience

Soul School is Virtual During Quarantine

While health guidelines prevent us from meeting in person right now, UNS' Soul School program continues online with Sunday gatherings at 9:15 am - 10:15 am for Gr. K-8 students that include theme-based discussion, creative activity, and meditation.  (Click Events and Activities for the latest one-time registration information.) Our Uniteens and YOU are also invited to participate in a virtual Chicagoland group on Sunday mornings, and in once-monthly Great Lakes Region virtual gatherings.

Soul School

Soul School for Kids and Teens meets every Sunday at 10:30 am, during the adult worship service. All children, infants through high school, are welcome to join us at any time. On the 3rd Sunday of each month, we also have a special brief lesson for our youth and congregation in the sanctuary. Once a year, Youth Ministry creates a Sunday service for the congregation in which all students and teachers take part.

Timeline

10:15 am:    Families arrive in the Garden Room to give plenty of time to hang up coats, make a trip to the bathroom, and sign in on the Soul School attendance sheet.

10:25 am:   Soul School begins with our Sacred Circle Pray-In for all students and teachers.  After a reading of the Daily Word, and a brief centering meditation, our K-12 students separate into their respective classes.

11:25 am:   All teachers and students go up to the Sanctuary for a Youth Ministry blessing and to sing the Peace Song.  At the end of service, students and teachers return to the Garden Room where parents sign out their infant - 8th grade children.

[NOTE:  On the third Sunday of each month, a special brief lesson will be created for our youth and congregation at the top of the service. The sign-in procedure remains the same on these days.]
