For most of us, this Christmas will be smaller and quieter than perhaps we'd like. And...whatever feelings we're experiencing about that; however much we may be missing loved ones not present; or longing for the comfort of longstanding traditions; or resenting the disruptions to so many facets of life, none of it can diminish the truest meaning of Christmas.
In fact, this Christmas may be more be like the first than any in generations. Like the holy family facing hardship and uncertainty in Bethlehem, I believe we're being invited into a profoundly mystical experience with the potential to change all that comes after.
May the smaller, quieter gatherings imposed by these humbling times, be a gift to your soul's rebirth.
Merry Christmas. --kdc
