Blessed by our community’s generosity in these uncertain times, UNS has not only adapted our Sunday experience to this new virtual world, we’ve evolved new ways to connect. Sure, we’d all prefer to meet and celebrate together in person, but there are other ways to connect, and we Unity folks are good at practicing acceptance and simultaneously calling forth the blessings – it’s in our DNA!
Our virtual offerings have included Soul School for youth, the weekly book group, a Friday Men’s Breakfast, and several SEE classes. We also created entirely new programming for spiritual renewal and growth, including the monthly Divine Feminine Book Study, twice-monthly Bi-Lingual Prayer Service and a Midweek De-Stress Meditation. Plus, our Prayer Chaplain Team adapted its annual training, incorporating virtual and safe-distanced sessions, we hosted a Virtual Vigil for this year’s World Day of Prayer observance, formed a Tech Team to manage it all, and of course, we continue to enjoy Rev. Kurt and Rev. Christina’s messages enhanced by the talent of top-tier New Thought musicians.
In this spirit, we are launching “Keep Us Connected,” a fundraising campaign to ensure the powerful programming and services we offer will continue through 2020. Goal for the campaign is $25,000, which the Finance Team projects will offset income we have not been able to realize from building rentals, or our two major annual fundraisers: the Jazz Concert and Fall Gala.
Here’s where you come in: “Keep Us Connected” invites you to discern the level of extra support you feel comfortable giving –from the price of a ticket you would have purchased for the concert, to the amount you might have spent in our Silent Auction for a week’s stay in Florida. The choice is yours, while we’re counting on you to help raise the $25,000 needed for operating expenses for the remainder of 2020.
To guide your discernment process, we’ve developed a list of giving levels associated with various programs and expenses through year-end.
Note: “Keep Us Connected” funds will supplement the general fund rather than underwrite a specific expense. We include this list to guide your discernment process as you prayerfully consider what level of giving supports you in feeling abundant and generous.
