Unity cofounder Charles Fillmore defines prayer as the most highly accelerated mind action known. Prayer synchronizes one's consciousness with the One Mind. It is the language of spiritualty through which we align with the creative power of the divine. We pray in order to experience an elevating of consciousness that our hearts and minds might open to receive guidance, healing, and a greater awareness and experience of the divine that is our truest nature. In addition to including a time of meditation and reflection in Sunday services, Unity on the North Shore offers classes and workshops for deepening one's prayer and meditation practice.

The Unity approach to prayer is based on positive prayers and affirmations that have universal, interfaith appeal. The prayers in this collection were written by participants in our recent Life of Prayer Class. Each statement begins with a "denial" – a declaration of Truth acknowledging the present condition while refuting its power to affect us. Denials are immediately followed by an affirmative declaration of Truth to engage the power of the divine in bringing itself into expression. We encourage you to use these statements in your personal prayer practice and hope that they inspire you to create similar statements of Truth that resonate in your own heart and mind.
Guidance
I look to no outside source for guidance. I turn to God/Spirit within and receive answers for my life.
I am guided through the Christ in me to do what is right. I do not need to worry about what to do and what to say because the Christ in me will guide me to the greatest good.
Doubt and confusion are erased from my thoughts. I laugh at thoughts of fear, knowing God is with me wherever I go.
I erase any thoughts of confusion and lack of direction. I know that God's guidance is always here, leading me on the path forward that is best for me.
I release any fear for my grandchildren's well-being. They are God's perfect children. Their parents are divinely guided in their care and keeping. Infinite wisdom guides us all in making wise and loving choices.
I release all ego centered actions and behaviors. Spirit guides all of my human interactions. I always recognize and value the Divine in others.
Healing
I deny all discomfort in my body. I am experiencing perfect health. I am energetic. My body is fed by fruits, vegetables and all it needs to operate at full capacity.
Disease and disorder have no power in my life. I am free. I am unlimited. I am more than my body.
I will not give power to thoughts of being unwell. I am free of physical maladies.
I will not breathe in negative thoughts about my body. As I am breathing, I am bringing God's perfect life to all parts of my body. God does the work.
No change in my body can harm my true nature. Divine life flows through me and I am healed.
My fears of dis-ease are powerless to shake my faith. Through God in me, I am healed.
Because I know my body is created perfect and whole, I erase all thoughts of imperfection and dis-ease. I dwell only on God's love for me.
In the Presence / Divine Order
I do not accept any negative thoughts or negative power in my life. Through prayer and meditation, I am divinely guided as I move through my day.
Nothing distracts me from Spirit's ever-present power. I am centered in an awareness of God's glory; grounded in a consciousness of God's infinite presence. In peace and in stillness, I am open to God's love in expression.
Nothing disturbs the calm peace of my mind. Like a placid lake reflecting a glorious sun-lit sky, my thoughts are a perfect reflection of the power and beauty of the Divine.
I deny all feelings that separate me from my true Divine self. I affirm that I am a child of God, filled with unlimited grace and blessings. I am whole and complete.
Peace of Mind
There is no room for worry or upset in my life. My connecting with Spirit upon awakening fills my mind with peace, joy and harmony.
I will not allow negative thoughts to take over my power. I am strong and positive in my thoughts and prayers.
Disconnected and harmful thoughts will not deprive me of inner peace. I am content and whole in my thoughts and mind, and all is well.
I do not allow tension or discomfort to limit my engagement with life. I am vibrant and vital in body, mind and spirit. My energy is boundless. I joyously accomplish all that's mine to undertake.
If any thoughts of fear and a desire to control arise, I remember that all is in divine order. God is all there is, dismissing all negativity.
Critical thoughts and judgments are now dissolved. Peace and wisdom fill my mind and heart.
I release my mind from the incessant noise of the world's daily busyness around me. As I quiet my thoughts, I perceive the peace of God growing within me and feelings of well-being and love fill my mind and heart.
Prosperity
Lack and limitation are not part of my orbit. Perfect health, wonderful, loving relationships and all resources are mine to claim through Spirit.
Feelings of lack will not control me or my thoughts. I am blessed with abundance and fulfilled through the power of the Christ in me.
I release fears of inadequacy and lack. All that I need spiritually and materially for my best path forward is already provided and will always be there for me.
I release any thought of lack or need from my consciousness and forget it. I know that God supplies all that I require. I am conscious of God’s presence.
I release and dissolve any thoughts of lack or limitation. I know in every cell of my body that God’s will for me is perfect happiness. All my needs are met and I fulfill my highest potential.
Thoughts of fear and lack do not disturb my consciousness, I remember that God provides for my every need. I relax into the knowledge that all is well.
I let go of all negative thoughts of unworthiness and helplessness. I affirm God as my source who guides me on a path filled with love and I am filled with the riches of life.
Protection
I am free from any threat of harm. The goodness and greatness of Spirit's mighty power guides my choices and protects my steps. I am strong in faith, confident in my resolve and courageously undertake all that's mine to do.
Feelings of fear or being lost are now dissolved. God's ever-present power and presence protect and guide me always.
When outer appearances present as disorder and chaos in the world, I affirm that God is present in everyone and every situation and all is well. (Again! J)
I erase thoughts of anxiety and fear for my safety. All my doings begin, continue and end in Spirit. I am guided safely along my best path.
Beings of love and light, thoughts of love and light surround me. There is no separation and I am whole, loved and loving.
Harm will not come to me as I go about my daily life. God is with me in every need. Whether walking, driving, at work, or at home, God is always present.
Relationships
All seeming conflict is dissolved. Nothing can destroy the love between us. Each of us learns what we need from this relationship. As parents we affirm that the needs of our children are met. We know that the highest good of all is best for each of us.
Family discord does not disturb my belief. God is in charge. God guides each of us on our journey to wholeness. God's love enfolds us all.
Error thought has no place in my life. I am whole. I lift my eyes to love and blessings.
There is no power in separation. We are one. We
are whole. We do no harm to any living things.
For Our World
I will not allow world unrest to take over my thoughts. I know that world events are unfolding in divine order for the good of all.
There is no darkness or evil that is lasting. God's light and love fill our world. The desire for peace and freedom brings forth harmony and respect. The people of the earth are one in their love and respect for each other and our planet.
Our earth is greater than any strife. There is no separation. We overcome division with our joy in being. In our faith, our connection to one another is revealed.
Humankind dissolves all thoughts of separation or of our neighbors as "other." We are united as one family, enjoying the rich variety of apparent differences, knowing that we are all aspects of the One.
Violence, greed and hate have no lasting power in our world. In a state of divine union with God, I envision a world where all people live in peace and harmony, and act with love, compassion and cooperation towards each other and all beings, and where people make wise decisions for the environment of the world.
I release all doubt. The power of God overcomes political unrest and human suffering. God's power and presence are greater than any earthly condition. The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
The turmoil and hatred that are so rife in our world have no power to destroy universal good. Everywhere and always, Spirit is present with the gifts of love and peace.
The world will not destroy itself. I see only beauty in my surroundings. I see the light that protects and brings to life all creatures.
