Sacred Service by design involves outer action: It's living by the principles we say we believe. It's putting feet beneath our prayers. It's extending our hearts and hands to support others. It's the concrete actions that help to create the kingdom of heaven on earth. Without conscious and consistent intent, it's all-too-easy for our service work to become about completing tasks and achieving goals. But service as a spiritual practice is most powerful when we remain fully conscious of the gifts inherent in the tasks we undertake along the way. It's about supporting those we serve in fulfilling their own greatness. True service is not about a job or a project. It's about experiencing and appreciating the flow of giving and receiving and the joy that blesses givers and receivers along the way.
Hillside Food Pantry
The first Sunday of each month, Unity on the North Shore gathers non-perishable food items and delivers what's collected to The Hillside Food Pantry, which supplies food to 6,000 people per month. Our YOU (high schoolers) has canvassed the local neighborhood collecting donations for Hillside. The UNS food drive is headed by Ramon and Hana Echevarria.
