Stress Management: Relaxation: A Way of Life
Saturday, Jan. 28
9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Facilitator: Nancy Good
Based in Unity’s Five Basic Principles, this introductory workshop is to help participants understand stress and its relationship to physical disorders. We will 1) discuss how stress affects the mind and body (e.g., anxiety, headaches, insomnia, gastrointestinal disorders, high blood pressure, and pain); and 2) experience some of the techniques used to reduce physiological and psychological reactions to stress, including progressive relaxation training, autogenic training, and imagery. This is an experiential workshop. Participants will learn how to control their own symptoms of stress, and learn techniques that can be integrated into their everyday lives.

Nancy Good is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been using Biofeedback and Stress Management in her private practice since 1978. She has taught Stress Management courses for the University of Chicago, the Illinois School of Professional Psychology and other professional organizations. She is the author of Relaxation: A Way of Life.
